Level 1 Nature Connection & Well Being

This qualification provides learners with a structured, GCSE-equivalent pathway to explore nature-based learning and personal growth. It allows students to engage in experiential outdoor learning while still receiving formal recognition for their natural connection and wellbeing, ensuring these qualities are valued alongside traditional subjects.

Level 1 Outdoor Learning

This course aims to provide the learner with an introduction to outdoor learning, play and holistic development, as well as an introduction to safe practice and practical skills in the natural environment.

Level 2 Outdoor Play Practitioner

This qualification aims to scaffold fundamental skills to facilitate and support outdoor play that promotes holistic development, whilst fostering an understanding of ecosystems and sustainable resource management.

Level 2 Nature-Based Activity Leader (Extended Award in Learning in the Outdoors)

This qualification aims ot equip learners with essential skills for outdoor education, including understanding the health benefits of outdoor activities, mastering practical outdoor skills, and ensuring personal safety during outdoor learning. Learners will explore craft techniques and resources for outdoor activities, gain an understanding of sustainable use of natural resources, and develop the knowledge to deliver engaging outdoor learning experiences. Each module focuses on fostering practical, safe, and environmentally responsible outdoor practices.

Duration - 5 days of in-person training

Level 2 Curriculum-Based Outdoor Learning

This course provides you with the skills and tools to enable the delivery of curriculum-based outdoor learning that fosters an understanding of ecosystems and promotes the sustainable use and management of natural resources.

Level 2 Nature Connection and Well Being

Level 2 builds on the foundations of Level 1, offering a more advanced understanding of nature connection and wellbeing. It ensures that students' learning experiences are formally recognised, aligning with GCSE standards, but continues to emphasise personal development, outdoor exploration, and wellbeing, in line with the core values of Forest School.

Hours of Study - 120 (80 guided)

Duration - 4 days of in-person training

Level 2 Assist at Forest School

Level 2 is designed to qualify a learner to become a Forest School assistant, enabling them to take a proactive role in helping a Forest School practitioner plan and deliver a Forest School programme and supporting the learners.

Hours of Study - 60

Duration - 5 days of in-person training

Level 3 Forest School Leader

Level 3 is designed to qualify the trainee to become a Forest School Leader and be able to set up and run a Forest School programme. Level 3 covers how to facilitate groups in a learner-centred way and how to manage a Forest School site sustainably. It also covers the practical skills required of a Forest School Leade.
