So what does a typical day look like with The Forest School Queen?
No two days ever look the same with
The Forest School Queen Team.
A typical Forest School day usually includes working with two classes across the day, with sessions lasting between 1.5-2 hours depending on schedules.
We often begin with a short nature walk (around 10 minutes, depending on site), where children assess the flora and fauna around them, build their connection with nature, and begin transitioning into the Forest School environment.
This followed by group time, where we talk about the weather, seasons, changing in nature, bird song, and play games to encourage teamwork, communication, and connection within the group.
Children then move into exploration time alongside a guided activity. Forest School is rooted in child-led learning, and this is what we proudly offer all the way up to KS4. There are always lots of rich opportunities for learning and play, including slacklines, natural loose parts, swings, painting stations, den building, and more.
Alongside free exploration, children are invited to take part in a guided activity which may focus on fire skills, tool use, crafts, or nature studies.
We finish each session with a reflection, using a variety of creative and supportive approaches to help children share their experiences and help inform future sessions.
